Background/Expertise

Rosa Maria Cajiga is a doctoral student in bioethics and research assistant at the University of Basel. At the same time she is doing a cotutelle de thésis in public law in Åbo Akademi University in Finland. In Mexico, her country of origin, she completed her law studies with a focus on constitutional law and a diploma in environmental law. She also has master's degree in animal law and society from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She has worked in the areas of civil and environmental law for the Mexican government and the law firm Iusnatura, respectively. She has also worked with the NGO Tierschutzbund Zürich in the area of comparative law. In addition, she is a member of the Communications Committee of the Animal Law Section of the Florida Bar (USA), the International Center for Animal Law and Policy (Spain) and the Canadian Animal Law Study Group.
