CV of Elisabeth Stock
Expertise/Research field:
Elisabeth Stock has a background as a dietitian. She has several years of working experience as a clinical nutritionist in various medical fields e.g. in palliative care. After having accumulated practical experience on bioethical issues in the clinical work, she further professionalized on these topics by obtaining a Master`s degree in “Applied Ethics“ at the University of Graz. During her studies she also worked as a student assistant at the chair of Health Care Ethics at the University of Graz and was a member of the clinical ethics team at the hospital where she was working as a dietitian. She has a special interest in geriatrics and in research on how to improve the wellbeing of older people. Therefore, she wrote her Master`s thesis about nutritional challenges of people in an early stage of dementia and their ethical implications.
Awards:
Her bachelor thesis “Practices to achieve a short-term weight reduction prior to competition in Taekwondo“ was awarded the “Kellogg Barber Award for Excellence“ for the best poster presented at the 6th DIETS-EFAD Conference in Portorož, Slovenia.
Stations of work:
Currently, Elisabeth Stock is a PhD candidate and research assistant at the Institute for Biomedical Ethics Basel (IBMB). She is working on a project funded by the Käthe Zingg-Schwichtenberg Fund of the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences about “Decision making in times of scarce resources: A mixed-method study“.
