Research Focus

Our members of the team with backgrounds in law, medicine, sciences, philosophy and religion do multi-disciplinary research on a wide area of ethical issues. We explore the ethical and social aspects of biological and medical research and practice in various areas of society.

The IBMB’s researchers are committed to an interdisciplinary endeavour aimed at finding ethical solutions to dilemmas raised by both new and traditional practices in biomedical ethics as well as those that we encounter with the developments in technology, environment and our society as a whole.

Smart home technology is advancing and proliferating. In caregiving, they could be a crucial resource in solving the looming caregiver shortage. But what are the needs, wishes and concerns of the Swiss population around new technologies in caregiving? That is our focus.

Loneliness

INtegrating loneliness mitigation measures in pandemic management plans: An interdisCiplinary in-depth expLoration of psychologically and ethically sUitable interventions to DecreasE social isolation [INCLUDE]

The aim of this project is to explore in-depth the experiences of people affected by loneliness in order to identify types and justifications of loneliness prevention and alleviation interventions that can inform pandemic management plans (PMPs).
