Research Focus

Our members of the team with backgrounds in law, medicine, sciences, philosophy and religion do multi-disciplinary research on a wide area of ethical issues. We explore the ethical and social aspects of biological and medical research and practice in various areas of society.

The IBMB’s researchers are committed to an interdisciplinary endeavour aimed at finding ethical solutions to dilemmas raised by both new and traditional practices in biomedical ethics as well as those that we encounter with the developments in technology, environment and our society as a whole.

Currently we focus on the following subjects:

New technologies in the care of older persons

Smart Home

SmaRt homES, Older adUlts, and caRegivers: Facilitating social aCceptance and negotiating rEsponsibilities [RESOURCE]

Smart home technology is advancing and proliferating. In caregiving, they could be a crucial resource in solving the looming caregiver shortage. But what are the needs, wishes and concerns of the Swiss population around new technologies in caregiving? That is our focus.
