Jonas Tellefsen Hejlesen is a doctoral student at the Institute for Biomedical Ethics at Basel University (IBMB) and a cultural psychologist with a Master of Science in Psychology from Aalborg University.

His thinking blends psychoanalysis and cultural psychology from a qualitative perspective while favouring theory building over naïve empiricism. Working at the intersection between psychology and philosophy, the common thread that runs through his work is a focus on human agency, morality, and their relation to human well-being.

In recent work, he has covered questions such as what does it mean to be free and how do we, as humans, develop agency? why do people make moral condemnations and what are the functions of moral condemnations? what does it mean to love something or someone and what role does love play in our psychic life?
