Eva Pérez Casesmeiro is a PhD student at the Institute for Biomedical Ethics (IBMB), University of Basel. Her research addresses the duty of justice and the ethics of public responses to chronic loneliness, including the deployment of AI companionship.
Originally trained in law at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, she moved into public health and bioethics. She holds an MSc in Global Public Health from Queen Mary University of London (2025); her dissertation compared six countries to examine how individualistic and collectivist cultural orientations shape patterns of loneliness and the national policy responses to it.
Eva pursues her doctorate alongside her role as Head of Data, Digital & IT, US & International, Marketing & Customer Engagement at Novartis in Basel.
She is fluent in Spanish and English, with an intermediate level of German.
