Background/Expertise
David Azilagbetor holds a PhD in Biomedical Ethics from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Basel. His doctoral work examined animal experimentation, ethical authorisation, stakeholder and patient involvement, and transparent governance.
His research focuses on ethical issues arising in research, healthcare, and technological development, and he currently works on the ethics of automation, stakeholder engagement in research ethics and policy-making, and the ethics of animal testing, with particular attention to the harm–benefit analysis (HBA) used in the ethical evaluation and authorisation of animal experiments. His work also addresses patient and public involvement and engagement in animal research ethics.
David previously trained in Advanced Health Care (MSc from the Higher Institute of Health Sciences at Université Hassan 1er in Morocco) and as a Nurse Anaesthetist and Intensivist (BSc from the Ministry of Health and the Higher Institute of Nursing Professions and Health Techniques in Rabat, Morocco).
