Background:
Avishek is a Microbiologist by training with more 17 years of experience in the field of scientific communications and medical affairs across Cell & Gene therapies, Oncology, Pharma and Vaccines. He takes active interest in patient engagement, data transparency initiatives, publication ethics and societal impact of publications. He is committed to the development of the scientific communications ecosystem in general and specifically in India and collaborates with like-minded organizations and educational institutes to educate and mentor upcoming and mid-career medical communications professionals.
Stations of work:
Avishek is currently pursuing his PhD at the Institute for Biomedical Ethics, at the University of Basel.
Relevant experience:
He completed his Masters in Microbiology from the Bangalore University, India. He was part of the Patient Focused Medicine Development (PFMD) working group that developed the Plain Language Summary How-To handbook. He was also part of the pan-industry stakeholder focus group which contributed to the International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP) recommendations on developing plain language summaries of publications.
Research field:
His topic of research pertains to better access to timely, accurate clinical trial data for patients and caregivers, in a format and language they can understand and use to participate in shared decision-making about their disease management.
