RESOURCE Expert Workshop
Technologies for Older Persons: Proximate and Distance Care – 13~14.04, University of Basel, Switzerland
Overview:
With support from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF) and the Institute for Medical Ethics (UK), it is with great pleasure to announce our second expert workshop for the RESOURCE project: "Technologies for Older Persons: Proximate and Distance Care", which will take place at the Kollegienhaus - Fakultätenzimmer 112, University of Basel, from the 13th to 14th of April 2023. International experts in caregiving, well-being of older persons, transnational migration, and family dynamics will convene (both in person and online) to discuss the emerging field of widely available Smart Home Technologies for the care and promotion of well-being for older people and their caregivers. The concrete aims of the workshop are:
- To situate the use of smart home health technologies in the discussion of caregiving and well-being for older adults at home;
- To understand the challenges and dynamics of family caregiving for older persons, both proximate and at a distance;
- To uncover potential research gaps for future collaboration and networking opportunities amongst participants;
In two days, we will go into depth on the social, anthropological, public health, and ethical issues, challenges and opportunities of using technologies for caregiving.
