18 and 19 June 2026 at the Faculty of Theology and the Study of Religion
This interdisciplinary research conference aims to explore the temporal aspects of the end of life and the temporal dimensions of dying and death. In doing so, the diverse temporal questions surrounding the end of life and its time-related challenges of an ethical, social, psychological, theological, historical and cultural nature will be examined.
Under discussion are attitudes, practices, problems and ways of dealing with the time of dying, including: Is there an ideal time to die? How are temporal aspects of assisted suicide addressed in literature? What happens when death comes too soon and a child dies? Or when the process of dying is prolonged, as in the case of dementia? And what did earlier generations think about the time of dying?
