Paul Schotsmans Prize 2025 goes to Gemma GarcĂa CalderĂł

👏 Congratulations to our PhD student Gemma García Calderó, who was awarded the Paul Schotsmans Prize 2025 for her abstract on “The Neglected Side of Ethical Balancing: Core Social Needs in Pandemic Public Health Deliberation” 👏

The Paul Schotsmans Prize is awarded each year by the European Association of Centres of Medical Ethics (EACME) to a PhD student whose abstract stands out for its scientific quality, coherence, originality, research context and contribution to the field of bioethic. It highlights promising young scholars who are leading innovative work in bioethics - and this year, Gemma’s research stood out!

The award was presented at the EACME Annual Conference 2025, which was hosted at the University of Zurich – Institute of Biomedical Ethics and History of Medicine (IBME) in Zurich. The conference gathered researchers from across the world to explore how ethical inquiry can help shape science and technology in ways that promote health and well-being.

🎉 We’re incredibly proud of Gemma for this well-deserved recognition and look forward to seeing where her work leads next! 🎉
