Background/Expertise
Edwin Louis-Maerten holds a doctorate of veterinary medicine from the veterinary faculty of Alfort, France. He also studied Philosophy and Applied Ethics at the University of Paris-Nanterre and graduated from the University of Strasbourg with a Master's degree in Animal Ethics and Animal Law. In addition, he is currently completing a residency program at the European College of Animal Welfare and Behavioral Medicine, with a specialization in Animal Welfare Science, Ethics and Law. His main research interest is veterinary clinical ethics, with a special focus on end-of-life care and animal abuse. Edwin is currently working on the SNF funded project "Implementing 3Rs in Switzerland: an interdisciplinary in-depth exploration of barriers and facilitators" (Implement-3R).
